The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Mechanical Engineering Lead and is responsible to implement mechanical engineering design & integration of the Electric Drive System as part of the overall vehicle integration. This individual will support all aspects of hardware engineering, such CAD design, component selections and system validations.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead and support all aspects of mechanical engineering activities at Phoenix Motorcars
  • Design and release mechanical drawings by SolidWorks CAD system
  • Correct and improve existing company drawings by SolidWorks CAD system
  • Develop and manage all BOM, drawings and the configurations. Develop and manage all documentations of the requirements, design and validation report.
  • Develop the best solutions applying mechanical, thermodynamics, material and electrical technologies
  • Support mechanical drawing development activities including equipment management and maintenance
  • Release high quality automotive drawings, components and systems
  • Find the best suppliers and develop a good relationship with Phoenix Motorcars
  • Provide analysis and troubleshooting of the customer vehicles in the field and other problem solving
  • Provide guidance to the engineering teams, technicians and manufacturing workers

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge and proficient skills in SolidWorks systems/operations and PDM works
  • Proficient use of GD&T for drawings specifications
  • 5+ years’ automotive mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience with electric vehicles, high voltage components, cooling systems and others
  • Use of FEA tools to analyze strength and life of components on various driving scenarios
  • 2+ automotive V-cycle development process
  • Proven track record of automotive systems development and the validation
  • Experience in testing and evaluations of automotive component systems using related tools
  • Good understanding of automotive controls systems
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skill

  • SolidWorks Certification
  • Electric vehicle development or relevant experiences
  • Power train development
  • Understanding of high voltage energy storage and charge subsystems.
  • Deep knowledge of automotive process and documentation such as P-Diagram, DFMEA, ICD
