Job Summary

The Technical Writer will be responsible for materials such as Owner’s Manuals, Technician Maintenance Instructions, R&R manuals, Parts Manuals, and Diagnostic Flow Charts and schematics. The ideal candidate will work across all departments independently to uphold quality of product while making the world a better place.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements.
  • Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
  • Provide technical feedback of content to ensure commonality across all documents.
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write user guides, technical specifications, and process documentation.
  • Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • Create external and internal facing technical documentation to support our integrations.
  • Interfaces with production manager, engineers, product specialists and technicians.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous writing projects.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and detailed engineering specifications is required.
  • Must be proficient with a personal computer and various software including desktop publishing (MS Publisher), spreadsheet (MS Excel), word processing (MS Word), illustration (Adobe Illustrator/Adobe Photoshop), and database programs (MS Access).

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field preferred
  • Experience in developing diagnostic information for the automotive manufacturing industry is desirable.
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences preferred but not required.
